Over 50 houses have been destroyed following a heavy down pour and hail that hit Senda Village in the area of Tradition Authority Kalumbu in the capital Lilongwe. According to the Lilongwe News Agency (LINA), the storm began on Saturday and had led to a lot of property getting lost as people had their houses roofs blown away. Village headman, Senda told LINA that the heavy down pour had alerted an alarm as houses after another get blown off and destroyed 20 roofed houses, 16 grass thatched ones with others over 20 affected. He also said that people have also lost farm inputs like fertilizer which got dissolved by the rains. According to Senda, the hailstorm has left more than 300 people homeless. The chief then called on well wishers to help the people who are now homeless and others prone to hunger. This comes at a time when some villagers in Makhankha, Nsanje got their houses blown away by hail and recently three people died in a wash away of Nasolo River in Ndirande Blantyre.
