There's a case of chickenpox at Carmel High School and Carmel Middle School, the schools announced to parents. It wasn't clear who had chickenpox, but the school sent a note to parents to explain the vaccination process and symptoms of chickenpox, which is also known as varicella. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends children get two doses of the chickenpox vaccine - the first at 12-15 months old, and the second at 4-6 years old. Chickenpox can be spread through the air or by making contact with fluid from chickenpox blisters.
