Eleven airmen were injured in an accident involving several Humvees Thursday afternoon on Fort Bliss, a post spokesman said. The injured were flown by helicopter and others were taken by ambulance to William Beaumont Army Medical Center and University Medical Center of El Paso, Fort Bliss spokesman Lt. Col. Lee Peters said. All airmen were expected to be released from the hospital Thursday night, Peters said. Six vehicles were in a convoy when the accident occurred in a training area about 16 miles northeast of the main portion of Fort Bliss, officials said. The accident is under investigation. The accident was not linked to Iron Focus, a large training exercise going on at the Army post, Peters said.
