At least 60 people are homeless after a Friday morning blaze at an apartment building put seven people in the hospital, reports say. Firefighters were called at 2 a.m. to the 5-story apartment complex at the 100 block of Jay Street, and its upper floors were engulfed in flames when they got there, CBS 6 reports. Public Safety Commissioner Wayne Bennett said five people were sent to Ellis Medicine, one to Albany Medical Center and another to Westchester Medical Center's Trauma and Burn Center. Three firefighters were also treated for injuries and released, according to The Daily Gazette. Reports say at least one person is unaccounted for from the building, which had as many as 35 units. The apartment building is located across the street from City Hall, where firefighters aletrnated keeping warm while battling the blaze in single digit temperatures. News 10 ABC reported that flames could be seen shooting over City Hall from three blocks away. Reports say the cause of the fire is being investigated.
