A U.S. Airways Express plane bound for Austin made an emergency landing at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston after reportedly facing engine trouble Friday afternoon. U.S. Airways Flight 5568, operated by Mesa Airlines, was traveling from Charlotte to Austin with 83 people on board when it started having engine problems, airport officials said. It safely made an emergency landing just after 6 p.m. Emergency crews immediately responded after its landing, but the plane was able to taxi to the terminal. "Our mechanics are trying to determine if the plane is flyable and can continue to Austin," Matt Miller with American Airlines said. According to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport's website, the flight was canceled. Miller told KVUE Friday evening that the passengers booked other flights to Austin, rented vehicles for the drive or opted to stay in Houston for the night and take a morning flight to Austin.
