Description:

Fire crews work to put out a wildfire on Little North Mountain in Jennings Gap. Neighbors like Alyssa Aaron and her roommate Ashley Norris watched anxiously as firefighters battled the flames. "I'm actually kind of scared and paranoid, so I probably won't go to sleep tonight," said Norris. Her roommate fears for their home. "The wind blowing, it can blow it anywhere and everybody's house can get burned down," said Aaron. The fire has already burned more than 30 acres of land. Firefighters from all over the county are working to put it out. Captain Craig Williams with the Churchville Fire Department says the windy weather creates a storm of problems. "When you get wind and then the fuel which is the portion of it that's burning, put together, it does nothing but amplify the fire," said Williams. Aaron and Norris say they are confident that crews will put the fire out before it gets to their home. "I hope they get it out in time and that the wind hopefully stops and the rain comes down," said Aaron. Fire crews are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
