Two people on a Delta Airlines flight that was diverted to Logan International Airport were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital after the plane encountered extreme turbulence while trying to land in the New York City area. "The plane was being bucketed from left to right, to up and then down," one passenger said. "Then it was around and around then out to sea and back to sea." Delta flight 271 took off from Paris and was attempting to land at Newark Liberty International Airport, but severe weather there forced the flight to be diverted to Kennedy International Airport. Landing attempts there were unsuccessful, too, and the decision was made to land in Boston. Even landing at Logan was rough for the 180 passengers and 11 crew members, and paramedics met the plane to bring two people to the hospital after complaining of severe nausea because of the conditions on board the plane. "I was holding onto my Bible," another passenger said. After about two hours at Logan the plane was refueled and continued on to its journey back to Newark where it landed safely. The two passengers taken to the hospital remained in Boston.
