The death toll from a crash involving two buses in northern Johannesburg has risen to two, with rescue workers now saying the number of those injured has risen to 64. A pregnant woman who was on board one of the vehicles died from her injuries and a bus driver was also killed. Emergency services' Nana Radebe said the woman who died in hospital was around five months pregnant. "She was at the top of the bus, on the double-decker. She was critical when she was taken to hospital." The two Metrobuses collided early this morning in the Rosebank area. A woman was on the scene and spoke to the John Robbie Show on Talk Radio 702 earlier. A young woman was the last passenger to be rescued at the Metrobus which is mangled and unrecognisable at the front, EMS workers managed to free her using the jaws of life, she was then moved into an awaiting ambulance through the emergency exit. A Johannesburg Metro Police Department tow truck then started separating the buses, exposing blood spatter at the driver side often vehicle which is also badly damaged. An eyewitness arrived there just as the paramedics started treating the injured. "The passengers were in shock; actually people were crying, screams all over. People were actually limping; you could tell that others could have easily broken their limbs." A driver's body has also been discovered and a clean-up operation is now underway.
