More than 20 people were injured in an explosion at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, Calif., Thursday, officials said. A fire extinguisher may have caused the blast, which occurred during a training session involving an assault amphibious vehicle (AAV), officials said. "Marines said all injured who required hospitalization are in stable condition," Jennifer Hlad of Stars and Stripes tweeted. The base did not request any help from San Bernardino County fire, a county spokesman told NBC News. There were no deaths reported and most of the injuries were related to "inhalation exposure" during a large-scale arms exercise, an official with the base hospital said. Twentynine Palms is the Marines' largest combined-arms training base.
